    Abstract:
Use of clinical simulation in the acquisition of nursing skills to improve patient safety. Introduction: Healthcare is increasingly complex due to the instrumentalization, technification and massification of the healthcare environment. Despite the high training of our professionals, sometimes the lack of familiarization with the application of certain techniques and new treatments and the incorporation of new action protocols can lead to the risk of incidents and adverse events. A change of paradigm based on the training of multidisciplinary teams is necessary to improve their competencies. The safety of the patient is a maximum of the health institutions and in order to achieve excellence in this field, the reduction of the risk of errors must be a primary objective. Clinical simulation is a very valuable tool that can facilitate the acquisition and improvement of these competencies, whose benefits, Nursing can enjoy. Objective: Acquire and improve Nursing skills through the use of clinical simulation. Methodology: This project will be carried out in two consecutive phases. The first phase will be a descriptive cross-sectional study carried out for nursing students enrolled in the subject of critical nursing in URV, Campus Terres de l’Ebre (CTE) and newly recruited professionals at Hospital Tortosa Verge de la Cinta (HTVC) to identify their level of competence through a questionnaire with sociodemographic data and the competence test COM_VA© as a method of data collection. In phase 2 of the project a quasi-experimental, pre-test and post-test design is proposed, using the knowledge test, the competence tests COM_VA©, the observation and the recording as a method of data collection and, as an intervention: the clinical simulation.
