Title in different languages: Working on interculturality in young Moroccan immigrants in Spain

Abstract: In this work an exhaustive analysis is made at a theoretical level about the different aspects related to the teaching of second languages, more specifically in the context of linguistic immersion. Also, the concepts of cultural pragmatics and interculturality are analyzed, with special emphasis on how these should be worked in the ELE classroom, aiming to reduce the cultural shock experienced by young Moroccan immigrants when they come to live in Spain. Thus, a contrastive analysis is made between the pragmatic aspects of Spanish culture and the pragmatic aspects of Moroccan culture that interfere with communicative acts. After analyzing these aspects at a theoretical level, we get closer to the practical reality of these young people. To achieve this, a questionnaire is passed to the target group to discover which aspects of Spanish pragmatics generated the most cultural shock in their first interactions with native Spanish speakers. Likewise, we also passed a questionnaire addressed to teachers who work with this group to learn about their experience and their perspective about which pragmatic aspects generate the most cultural shock to this specific group in their oral interactions with natives speakers. Finally, a guide of didactic materials is proposed to work on interculturality in the ELE classroom based on the needs found both at a theoretical and practical level.
